Astrophotography Gallery > Star Clusters

Star clusters usually come in two types - Open Clusters and Globular Clusters. While both types are star clusters, they are vastly different from each other. Open clusters typically contain a maximum of 200 stars, and often are named after the shape they seem to form when the dots are connected. Globular clusters are significantly more dense, often having hundreds of thousands of stars. They don't have a specific shape, but rather get progressively more dense as one travels into the cluster's core. Open clusters are actually my favorite type of deep sky object; the fact that we can see the beautiful star colors and shapes is fascinating and beautiful.
